Your daily shoe porn

I may have quit Twitter, but I've resurrected a popular tidbit I used to do on it over at The Frisky, "Your Daily Shoe Porn." Basically, it's one hot/sexy/weird shoe of the day. Not a lot of text. Just you and the shoe. In case you're wondering, women like shoes because they will never make us ask you, "Do these make me look fat?"

Pictured here, Pleaser's bordello polkadots for $60, courtesy of Gala Darling.

If you're a girl who loves shoes, or a guy who loves girls in shoes, a few other of my shoe favorites:

I'm the style editor of my dreams (updated)

This week, the style editor at my job is on vacation, and so I have been asked to fill in for her, turning me into the fashion editor of my dreams, albeit but for a fleeting moment. To watch what I'm up to, check out the style section at The Frisky. I'll be the one in Rodarte.

Update: Fashion porn.

Update 2: ADR tells you how to pack.

The top 10 wackiest stripper shoes

Over at my day job, I compiled a slide show of "The Top 10 Wackiest Stripper Shoes." Yes, that's my day job. There was research involved! My dedication to my "craft" knows no bounds, truly.

I think my favorite ones are the "Bondgirl"-themed heels you see here, equipped with, well, part of a gun for a heel and extra, er, "bullets." Of course, there's something to be said for a pair of stripper shoes with their own stripper pole. And I appreciate the direct marketing campaign of these: "PAY ME." People tend to get a kick out of the tip jar ones if you haven't seen them already. And nothing says "I love you" on Valentine's Day like platforms with hearts for heels.

I used to own a fair number of pairs of shoes like this. They were covered in silver glitter, or had a pair of red lips, or thigh-high fire engine red boots with eight-inch heels. Now? Not so much. They crippled me. Something to remember them by.

In My Other Life, I'm a Fashion Blogger

When I'm not complaining about my ongoing kidney stone saga, I spend my time contemplating all things fashion. So much vapidity, one can lose oneself in it.

On The Frisky, my post on a fashion layout that could put your eye out went viral.

I also wondered if Jimmy Choo ripped off a fashion blogger.

And then there was this guy, who pretty much ruined those heel-less Nina Ricci boots for me.

Elsewhere, Gaultier's fashion week show in Paris blew my mind. (Make sure to click on "View Full Screen" for full glory.) Valentino dazzled but was a bit inconsistent. And Dior was, well, Dior. Pat McGrath's faces were, as usual, awe-inspiring.

Recently, Jill Sherman, who runs one of my favorite fashion blogs, Trend de la Creme, blogged about being diagnosed with MS. Jill is awesome! She encourages you to donate to the National MS Society. Do it.

Over on my Twitter feed, I do a regular tweet called "Your Daily Shoe Porn." It just features a link to some fanastical pair of shoes or the other. Probably, I should turn that idea into a blog. Probably, I won't. Check out these Nicholas Kirkwood for Rodarte Corroded Brass Pumps. A mere $2,393! Sigh. A girl can dream.

My New Column

Yeah, so, if you know me, or even if you don't, you know my day job is working for The Frisky, where I am an associate editor, or at least that's what my business card says. There, I do a few different things: write blog posts, do online outreach, work with partners, contemplate my navel, and work with girls who wear white fur coats.

This year, I'm trying to mix things up in a few new ways across the board. For example, on my own time, I'm doing my not-yet-announced-online-project, and I'm blogging at True/Slant. (I've been waylaid on moving forward on these things due to my unforeseen, unpleasant, ongoing tussle with kidney stones.)

At The Frisky, I'm going to be writing a new sex advice column. Want to submit a question? Send me your questions at susannah at the frisky dot com. Your identity will remain our dirty little secret.

Listicle

Over at The Frisky, we were asked to compile our best blog posts of 2009. So, in no particular order ...

How to Date a Tall Chick. This is basically a rewrite of a story I did for Details about a million years ago. Read it and weep.

10 Ways The Adult Movie Industry Can Save Itself From Premature Extinction. Funny title, no? I didn't think of it. This is sort of a tongue-in-cheek piece. The answer: ROBOTS.

Has Feminism Gone Too Far? Someone on some other blog wrote that I write a post like this a couple times a year. True! This is my favorite comment: "Ugh Susana Breslin drives me up the wall. Every time I read one her posts I want to throw something. I want to take her to the School of Logical Thinking Where Not Everything Is Totally About Susana Breslin." Do I get a scholarship if I agree to go?

The Top 20 Worst Pick-Up Lines Ever. This post is actually pretty funny and only exists because it was ripped off the comments for a post that Wendy did. My favorite: "Can I push your stool in?" Heh.

Think Porn Is Empowering? Think Again. It’s Not That Simple. More pr0n, but pr0n and women. Way to diversify, Susannah.

10 Things Guys Should Do on a First Date. Is there anyone less qualified to write this post? Hm? Wot? No? I didn't think so.

Meet The Frisky Crew At Work! I wandered around and took pics of the broads I work with. Enjoy.

Frisky Q&A: An Interview With Tattooed Lady, Lawyer, Author And Blogger Marisa Kakoulas. I interviewed the divine Miss Marisa, queen of Needles and Sins. The other day, we had dinner. She is tiny, but, man, she will bend you to her will. I was but a sapling to her hurricane-force winds.

Frisky Q&A: Tucker Max Talks “I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell,” Feminism, Sex, And Why He Loves Women. Don't be jealous.

When Celebrities and Porn Stars Do It. I got one word for you kids: linkbait.

Frisky

Did you know I work for The Frisky? Well, it's true. I do. That's my day job. I write posts daily and do various other things. It's not a bad gig. In fact, it's a pretty good gig. In truth, I have no idea what I would do without it.

Recently, I wrote a post on women and porn. Usually, I stay away from this topic, because if you say anything negative you end up sounding like a nervous Nellie, and yet the reality is that it is not all cupcakes and daises. I kind of like the way this essay is constructed: as a slide show with words and images. Oprah did a show not long ago that prompted its writing. The show made me want to throw up. A bunch of broads spinning a bunch of lies about porn. Thanks, dumb asses.

Then, I wrote a post on what guys should do on a first date. This is pretty much a joke, because, in a weird way, I don't have that much dating experience, and I'm also pretty sure I'm a pretty horrible first date, with crimes including "frowning," "making jokes at my date's expense," and "refusing to pay." But my boss lady made me do it. Apparently, the guys at Manhood 101 didn't care for it, because they called me a "dumb cunt," a "dumb bitch," "fucking stupid," a "stupidfuck," a "gold digging cunt," a "hooker," and a "mindless cunt." Touché!

I also wrote about snail poop, men in prison, and H1N1 style.

So, if you've been sitting around wondering, What does Susannah spend her days doing?, that, my friend, is your answer.

Also, I wrote another 1,000 words of my novel, which I think is going to be a novella.
